Everything is interesting when you’re eight. That’s what my husband and I kept saying during our stay at Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara. From the gardens to the beach to the “rain” shower, our kids were thrilled everywhere they looked. As an advocate of healthy eating, I was particularly excited by the Kid’s Menu choices at Bella Vista: grilled halibut, snow peas, mashed potatoes, grilled chicken—just to name a few. We rarely find these real, healthy food choices for our kids while traveling.
Resort guests have access to the Coral Casino Beach and Cabana Club, positioned at the water’s edge. (The Cabana Club is on the beach.) There is also another pool at the resort, where the kids spent hours diving off the diving board and the parents enjoyed a drink (my favorite was the cucumber, mint and lemon spritzer).
The highlight of our weekend was the picnic basket prepared by restaurant staff for us as part of the resort’s new Simply Irresistible Epicurean Experiences. We drove over to the Santa Barbara Mission and enjoyed a sun-drenched feast of phyllo-wrapped ahi tuna, grilled asparagus, marinated vegetables, local wine, apple pie and truffles next to the rose gardens. The kids were amazed at every turn. And as a family, we savored taking time to slow down and be together, eat amazing food, and take in the views.

That all looks so yummy! The Four Seasons in Santa Barbara (Montecito) is so nice. I’ve stayed there once a few years ago and I was thoroughly impressed by all the amazing amenities. Great staff, beautiful rooms, and who could deny the beauty of the beach across the street! Posh little town as well, the way a vacation should be spent. Looks like you guys had a great time in Santa Barbara, the way it should go! Cash has been kind of tight lately but I am not ready to give up my fabulous vacations in Santa Barbara. Now I just stay at the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). Actually really nice and comfortable.
Now THAT is a vacation. I think I might be ooohing and ahhhing over every nook and cranny too! SB is one of my favorite places in the world. I’ve never been to the Four Seasons, but I’m starting to think I need to add it to my list!
What a wonderful and fulfilling experience. Santa Barbara is one of my favorite local get-a-ways! The weather is great, the people are kind and the food is so so fresh.
Heaven! I am tempted to take a drive up to Santa Barbara right now! Thanks for sharing your experiences with all of us.
